Description
This is a sunset seen from a hill near Copacabana over Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world (3,812 m or 12,507 ft). He is situated in a basin between the Andean chains and created by strike-slip movement along regional faults. The surface area covers 8,372 km2 (3,232 sqmi).
Since pre-Columbian times the local totora reed was used for boats and also for artificial islands. The Isla del Sol in the lake is a place of over 180 ruins. Most of these date to the Inca period around the 15th century.
