Merida is an old roman settlement in Spain. It is in the Extremadura near the Portuguese border. Because of the many roman buildings it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most famous buildings are this theatre, an amphitheatre nearby and the long bridge (half a mile) over the Guadiana river. Copyright by Rudi Prott, Munich.
