Description
The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Roman Catholic church in the Maltese capital Valletta. It is one of the most famous churches and main tourist attractions of Valletta and it is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes the entire city. The 42 meter high oval dome dominates both the city skyline from the north and Marsamxett Harbour.
The first church from the 16th century was seriously damaged during the World War II and was rebuilt from 1958 to 1981. This is the beautiful statue of the Lady of Mount Carmel and her Child Jesus in the Basilica.
