Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world. He is 8,463 meters high (27,748 feet). The Mount Everest and the Lhotse are part of the same ridge to the west. The mountain is part of the Makalu Barun National Park which is the park with the highest difference in altitude in the world. The deepest point in the valley of Arun river is only 430 meters high (1,410 feet). The photo with the last light before sunset was taken from Milke Danda ridge in the southwest.

About Rudi Prott
I started photographing when I was 16 years old. In the beginning I set the focus to soccer. Four years later I made the photos for the local soccer team and the local newspaper. After having finished my university studies I started traveling. Photographing nature and sometimes city views replaced the soccer engagement. In the 90s I had two exhibitions in the rooms of a Life Insurance in Munich (Carnevale di Venezia and Nepal). The Venice images where used by a big pre press company for a calendar. For 2012 I published my first own calendar about World Heritage Sites of Nature.
