Artist's Description

After the big earthquake from 1934 big parts of the Bhaktapur Durbar square were destroyed. The Bhaktapur Development Program (BDP), a German restoration and preservation program made it the best preserved place in Nepal untill the late 80s. Now the UNESCO World Heritage Site was destroyed again on 25th of April 2014.
This is a smaller local artwork showing a peacock window which is typical for the Bhaktapur wood carvings. The Palace of the 55 windows is the best place to see such carvings.
